Egan, 39, adds, “Although this is my first child in real life, I’ve had very dramatic on-screen births on The Young and the Restless. Once after falling through a lake, I delivered my son on the show in a cabin. The other time, I went into labor at my wedding and delivered a baby right there in my wedding dress. So this was a breeze compared to that!”

Y&R casting news straight from Michael Mealor says that he is indeed leaving the role of Kyle Abbott. However, Jason Thompson, AKA Billy Abbott, already beat him to the punch. JT posted earlier wishing his castmate well. Others from the cast of Young and the Restless joined in quickly, complimenting Mealor on his acting talent and wishing him the best in the future.

An insider at CBS daytime said that Mealor already filmed his final scenes as Kyle Abbott and revealed how his Y&R character would be  written off the show. That same source said not to discount the possibility of a recast at some point. Since Mealor himself is a recast, it doesn’t seem unlikely that Young and the Restless might recast the role of Kyle.

Young and Restless show-runners have been in contact with their co-horts on sister soap, Bold and Beautiful, who undertook the first return to filming a drama series in the United States, with scenes shot on Wednesday June 17. The next day, however, the CBS soap was forced to pause production once again, with a plan to return tomorrow, Tuesday June 23.
